I like the idea of simplicity. Oftentimes though, complexity is required to achieve an image of simplicity. 

Colour, lighting, mood and movement can serve or it can detract. Our challenge as cinematographers is to identify and interpret the appropriate application of these elements. 

The right directorial collaboration is a crucial component to achieving this. As is our relationships with other departments.
